I am the sole proprietor of this Rugby based firm and the first to admit that I have been around a while. My qualifications were gained by examination with the Society of Landed Property Agents in 1963 and I am now a Fellow of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors.
My hands on experience and involvement in managing counrty estates, together with forty years working as an auctioneer in London and the provinces has given me a lifetime's passion for art and antiques at all levels. I gain a terrific amount of pleasure when examining an object and understanding the function within an historical and social context.
After operating a Fine Art Saleroom in Leamington Spa for twenty five years, I decided to specialise in valuations and created my own company with the sole purpose of providing a service relating to various aspects of chattels including valuation and eventual disposal if required.
With a natural curiosity for people, their possessions and the environment, nothing gives me greater gratification than entering a client's property and commencing on a voyage of discovery. I am honest in stating that I would not be involved in this profession unless it held immense satisfaction and interest for me personally.
During the last ten years I have been involved with the BBC as an expert and valuer on programmes as diverse as "20th Century Antiques Road Show", "Bargain Hunt" and "Flog It". I also deliver antique and fine art themed lectures and talks throughout the country and on cruise liners around the world. There is nothing more enjoyable than speaking to people with a common interest, sharing anecdotes and experiences of acquiring collections or endeavouring to build up enthusiasm for the subject.
More recently I have accepted an appointment from Morphets Auctioneeers of Harrogate to act as their auctioneer for their fortnightly Chattel and Collectors sales and their regular Fine Art Sales.
