Qualified with the Incorporated Society of Valuers and Auctioneers in 1981 as the Antiques Trade Gazette prize winner for the student with the highest pass rate.  Now a Fellow of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors.

Began work with jewellery and silver specialist auctioneers Fellows & Sons in Birmingham.

Worked with David Barby over a twenty year period in the Fine Art Department of Locke & England.
